Type Classification
Analytical drawings of the 9 different avalanche types.
There are nine types of avalanches, each defined by what can be seen. This 9 square grid system describes how each type apprears, and their level of danger. The nine-square table also represents the range of forms the avalanche may take. The method for building these representations started from digital grains of snow, similar to how every avalanche starts to form (snow). The digital snow is then translated into noise maps, these noisemaps became the base for terrain models, which were sectioned to further explore and describe the different avalanche types.
